Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Submissions

2010 Conference Theme

The theme of the IACIS 50th Annual International Conference is “Social Networking – from personal to business.” Social networks have been in existence for centuries, so why have they become so popular now? How are businesses using social networks to capture customers? How is the technology developed, implemented, secured, and deployed? How do we incorporate the use and development into the MIS curriculum? These are just a few of the questions that come to the forefront of this new craze.

You are invited to share your theme or other relevant IS and IT research with the professionals attending and presenting papers at the 50th Annual IACIS International Conference.

Deciding Whether to Submit an Abstract or a Full Paper

If you submit an abstract to the conference, then you can submit a full paper (based on that abstract) for review to JCIS.  However, if you submit a full paper to the conference and that paper is accepted, your paper will be published in Issues in Information Systems and could not be published again in JCIS. Material published in IIS by the authors before submission to any journal is considered prior publication.

How to Submit

Submission of successful papers/abstracts is a two-step process:

  1. Upload the initial paper or abstract online by May 15, 2010 to http://misnt2.cob.ohiou.edu/IACISConference/. Click on the New Submission tab. All papers and abstracts are submitted to a double-blind review.
  2. Upload the accepted and revised paper or abstract by June 30, 2010 to http://misnt2.cob.ohiou.edu/IACISConference/. Click on the Final Submission tab. Your accepted, revised paper must be uploaded here for publication in Issues in Information System (paper) or the Conference Proceedings (abstract).

Please report any technical problems directly to Thom Luce — luce@ohio.edu).

What to Submit

  • Full pedagogy/research papers (including work in progress)
  • Paper abstracts (including workshop proposals)
  • Panel presentation proposals
  • Round-table discussion proposals

All complete paper submissions are double-blind refereed. Papers accepted in the review process will be published in Issues in Information Systems. IIS has been published in CD-ROM format since 2007. Papers published in IIS cannot be resubmitted for publication elsewhere. Abstracts, along with proposals for proposals for panels and round-tables, are reviewed and (if accepted) will be published in the Conference Program and Proceedings. Submit only unpublished, original works. Proposals for workshops, panel presentations, and round table discussions should provide a general overview of the session's objectives and activities.

IACIS policy requires one unique author to be registered for each paper accepted for presentation and publication. If you are an author or co-author on more then one accepted paper, each paper must have one unique author registration to be accepted for conference presentation and publication. If multiple, same-single-author papers are submitted and accepted, only one will be scheduled for conference presentation and publication.
