Awards Past Recipients of the Ben Bauman Award for Excellence 2007 Dr. Sean McGann, Associate Professor, Management Information Systems Department, Ohio University, Athens, OH, USA Dr. McGann began his business career with Anderson Consulting, leaving to form his own eBusiness startup. After accepting a faculty appointment at Ohio University, Professor McGann has spearheaded a major MIS curriculum reform, authored more than a dozen research manuscripts, and serves on numerous college and university committees. He also serves as advisor to the AITP Chapter and as Assistant Director of the Ohio University Integrated MBA Program.
2006 Dr. Roy A. Boggs, Professor of Computer Information Systems, Lutgert College of Business, Florida Gulf Coast University, Fort Myers, FL Professor Boggs has had the unique opportunity to be a force in the creation of a new educational institution, Florida Gulf Coast University. He has served as Professor of MIS, Department Chair and Academic Dean during the past seven years as the university has grown from an idea to a 7,500 student, AACSB accredited institution. During his academic career Professor Boggs has taught at four universities and has served as a Visiting Professor and/or Fulbright Fellow at five overseas universities. He has been a pioneer in teaching technology courses to an international student population over the Internet and is an active scholar: his work includes text books, journal articles and presentation proceedings.
2005 Dr. Jack Russell, Morrison Professor of Computer Information Systems, Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA Jack is recognized as a leader and innovator in CIS Education, especially in the areas of Systems Analysis and Design and CASE. He has coached and taken students to programming and SA&D competitions for the past 20 years, and his teams have placed in the top 3 almost every year. They have been first in the SA&D contest for each of the past five years. Jack is the recipient of many awards for his work with students, curriculum, academic programs and professional associations.
2004 Dr. Winston Tellis, Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management, Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT Winston joined the faculty after more than 25 years leading Academic and Administrative Computing at Fairfield. He has brought both his technical skills and his lifelong commitment to outreach and serving the underprivileged in Harlem, Haiti, Nicaragua and Ecuador to his students. His aim is to link students with the developing world, encourage volunteerism and assist less fortunate populations throughout the world.
2003 Dr. Binshan Lin, Professor of Management and Marketing, Louisiana State University, Shreveport Binshan has received the Outstanding Faculty Award six times, received six "Best Paper" awards, has published over 100 manuscripts, and serves as editor or associate editor for 12 academic journals. He is also responsible for 20 research and development grants for his university.
2002 Dr. Robert Mills, Assistant Professor of Business Information Systems, Utah State University In less than five years, Robert has published more than 20 scholarly works, developed and taught distance learning courses to sites in Utah and Wyoming, obtained external funding and grants of more than $100,000 and has been ranked number one for departmental teaching faculty.
2001 Dr. Tom Hilton, Professor of Business Information Systems and Education, Utah State University Tom has been active in numerous academic organizations and has served IACIS as an Officer, Director or webmaster for eight years. In addition to active research and publication, Tom serves as a Bishop in the LDS church and as major professor for 8 doctoral and 55 master's students.
2000 Dr. Paul Stephens, Assistant Professor of Business Management and Administration, Bradley University Paul began his career as a teaching assistant at Bradley and had his first manuscript accepted for publication while still a student. Since joining the faculty full time, he has authored several manuscripts, written a book chapter and developed a reputation as a teacher that focuses his class activities on developing critical thinking and communications skills.
